Socialist Dictatorships

The socialist is he who wishes for everybody, usually through force, to share their property. The socialist dictator is he who wishes everyone but himself to share. Everybody, since they want to be exempt from having to share their own property, wants to be the socialist dictator. The socialist dictator must therefor use violence or pay people to use violence, by making lords, military generals and/or religious leaders, to protect himself from the masses. When paid off, these 'subjects' will have no desire for rebellion, but will even endorse the socialist dictator.

Indirect Religious Dictatorships

The creation of the religion of Islam is one of the most genius ideologies for the cause of dictatorship. The Islamic emperor is god, and the kings are the prophets. Not only did these self proclaimed prophets make their families wealthier, they also made the families of their friends, whether they are religious or not, considerably wealthier and more powerful as well. It is a dictatorship that gives breed to smaller dictatorships, as kings will always have disputes amongst each other and there really is no emperor to solve anything. Culture in the middle east has been formed under this dictatorial rule.

Catholicism-styled dictatorship, on the other hand, gave the pope the power of the emperor. This made the land even more centralized, making the land both harder to control and more profitable. Those who were able to harvest the fruits of their labour received their rewards.

palestine is not a country... according to whom?

The other day in my developing areas class, a student got laughed at for thinking that Palestine is a country. So i thought to myself, who decides? Other countries.
Lets take a look at Kosovo, although claiming to be a country for years, it was not accepted until England and the United States said it was. Russia and Serbia, of course, do not recognize them to be a country. Ultimately, the country(s) with the most power decide when a country is actually a country. In the case of Kosovo, Russia is not as powerful as the west... so I guess it is a country. On the other hand, Palestine, since it too is not as powerful as the west, is not a country.

On another note, I wonder if the United States would still be backing Israel if, lets say, Israel was a muslim nation and Palestine a christian one.

States do not care if you freeze to death.

After converting from ally to enemy... or commi to capitalist, Ukraine cannot handle reasonable market prices of gas... and neither country cares about the consequences. States acting from utilitarianism? Yeah right. Even states act from self-interest.

Cloning and Free Will

Whatever happens to/in the real world, human beings try to adapt to the environment. Even simple changes, such as different seasons and weather conditions, have been adapted to. Consciousness is adaptation from a subconscious choice to a conscious one...

...this is why Hitler, if 'cloned' will not be the same Hitler as we have come to know him in history... he could, in fact, do a number of other things... including cure cancer.

I love it. The first "stateless society" and the first thing it does is steal from government. Of course, (you would know this after watching Lord of War) very few people report on the governmental backing of the arms business. What a surprise, now their own arms are being used against them. What are they going to do next? Raise the funding for protection, great.

Israeli Holocaust?

The UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) is now rejecting Israel's claim that its troops were returning fire from militants in the school's yard.

"We are 99.9 per cent certain that there were no militants, no militant activity in the school building or in the compound," UNRWA spokesman Chris Gunness said.

"If anyone has any information that contradicts that could they please come forward? Can their information please be part of an impartial investigation?"

I wonder if Hezbollah, now that they are supposedly 'stronger than ever,' will ever have the, shall we say, cohonez to attack Israel?

Mainly because of the numbing effects of news, the death hardly bothers me. Rather ironically, what does bother me is the lack of coverage its been getting and whatever news that has managed to make it through is more or less unclear.

Absolute Power

absolute force is always resisted, but it does not matter how many resist.

governments have always been made to represent a true monopoly of power, such that there is no competition. However, in reality, although governments may hold the majority of violence, they do not actually hold any monopoly.

Nobody wants violence inflicted on them. So, in an effort to try and stop this, human beings band together and form states to try to collectively govern this violence. However, this does not really 'stop' the violence because, not only does it use violence against its own populace, it uses it against those outside of the system. It creates a kind of 'join us or die' attitude. Individual potential for destruction turns into a much more powerful, collective one. However, there really is no such thing as collective property or collective power. Since only one will can be exerted on one object, a collective decision is ultimately the decision of individuals.


The Collective Body

Decisions are made within the brain of an individual. Since there is no collective brain, it is really difficult to argue that a collective decision can even be made. But it is possible when all brains come up with the same conclusion. If one does not agree, he can either be convinced, forced to obey, traded with or, in extremely rare cases kicked out or ignored. The collective fist, on the other hand, is something much more physical and objective. Whatever the brain comes up with, the collective fist enforces. A fist can only be stopped by another fist but that just means that the fist has been replaced by a stronger one. The only way to stop the cycle is to not be apart of it. Control your own violence, don't let your fists assimilate into the collective, but if you do, you will have very little control of what it does meaning that it could hurt those who you do not want it to hurt, including yourself.
